karma & Account Balance

As written by Brother Nitin

Today's (9-feb-2013) Thought for the day takes me back to Kodaikanal (1998) where Swami Himself explained how God keeps track of our Karmas and maintains everyone's personal accounts.138
One of the VIP s hailing from MP had come to Kodai to seek Swami's blessings . Swami blessed him during darshan and as a bonus invited him inside Sai Sruti -(Swami's residence in Kodai ) for lunch.
During the lunch, this gentleman asked a question , "Swami, if i perform one bad (sinful ) act , can it be nullified with one good act of ours ?"
Swami replied him with an example , "if you sow two seeds, one lemon seed and another mango seed then what will you get ? You will get a lemon tree in place of lemon seed and a mango tree where a mango seed was sown."
Moral : Positive consequences for good and negative consequences for Bad actions (Karmas) . No square offs entertained. (And 'All are one and be alike to everyone' is followed by the Super accountant )

In Addition, i just read from the  book “ Sri Sathya Sai Gita – All About Spirituality in Q’s and A’s “  the Q&A,

Q : How to close the account of birth and death with nil balance?

Swami : So long as the consequence of Karma persists, man is bound to be reborn, to finish the consumption thereof. For, the slate of Karma has to be wiped clean so that the account of birth and death can be closed for nil balance.

Q : Does it imply that God does not interfere in the fruits of karma?

The Lord is an impartial witness. He merely hands over the fruits of each one’s actions. in case the consequence is unpleasant, God may interfere to get the pain reduced by proper propitiation. That authority He has.
